I am currently in London trying to find a vet position by myself as the recruitment agencies doesn't want to consider myself ...and it's been a long time now, sending CV to practices doesn't help to find a job too, because everybody

Re: Quite urgent add and also interesting for your practice!

Hi Hannah,

Thank you for your message.

Actually my goal is not to point those recruitment agency, I have been registered with two really big of them, that have promised me a lot and bla bla bla....but I can't trust them anymore, regarding the way they are working.

Then I have been contacted by a third that took the time to call and to speak with me, so I would trust them more.

I have give up with the two others.

Thank you for your advices by the way.

Best regards,

Thank you very very much for the tip, unfortunately there are no positions available around London...I might be jinxed somewhat, but maybe it is worth it to go and to talk with them directly, after all free help should be welcome there, hopefully.

Really cool avatar by the way!

Many thanks.

The PDSA would be a great place to see practice/volunteer. You would get loads of experience in a short period. If you apply on their seeing practice page of their web-site you can start getting things organised.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Stuart.

The thing is that I am seeking for a place as a vet trainee because I have understood that none is willing to consider my applications when I apply for a paid job !!!!

It is not devaluing myself and anyone should ever ask for references about myself and would understand that I am a really valuable person, if at least vets are willing to trust other professionals opinions.

And it is not to be proud or egocentric, that's just what other think and as it is easily "checkable", I am not going to devalue myself more. Of course I am not a know-it-all about veterinary medicine but I can't tell that I know nothing, because that's not true.

Should each one of us remember the time where one had to start and you might understand what I mean more accurately.

I am just in a situation where I guess I need a British experience to become valuable for British vets, that's why I am not sure I could ever ask money when I am asking for a trainee position.

And you see in my situation I have to work as a telesaler to survive but I am still willing to work a vet practice being unpaid just because I miss being a vet, I miss taking care of patients, I miss all those things I have studied for!!!!!!!

Re: Quite urgent add and also interesting for your practice!
Quite amazing to figure out that even offering my services for free as a fully RCVS registered and qualified vet, in order to gain more experience-as a trainee- has absolutely no success....if someone could ever explain me what's going on with the vet world....Many thanks in advance!
If you offer yourself for free, you are devaluing yourself. Could lead people to think 'is this person so bad they not worth a salary'? I'm sure you are good and competent but even in your situation I'd rather work in Tesco's than offer myself for free.

Re: Quite urgent add and also interesting for your practice!

And by the way really sorry about my typos and faults... had to write really quickly at the office then I figured out all them....sorry about this Arlo,

Re: Quite urgent add and also interesting for your practice!

Hi Michael,

Actually I thought I was pretty clear, I am in this situation because sending CVs and applying to the adds listed on vet newspapers or on the BVA website ect ect, even on this website hasn't help at all.

I have also registered on recruitment agencies where people say they are going to find you something, but actually what they do is to send you adds weekly and I never had a feedback about all those adds I have applied. When you ask for more informations they just change the recruiter so it's a square circle.

They never reply or they jus let you expect something they will never give you.

Or they say they will contact you, then you think they are serious and they never call you, by the way I am still waiting for someone to call me for few months around the London area.

I have been asked references letters once, I have called my internship supervisors in the USA, they have sent the letters really quickly to the place, I know they have got them, but when I have asked for more news about my application nobody has answered.

In the end that's why I decided to come and to speak with vets, because from France all I can do is browsing the web or sending e-mail. I thought being here would help more.

Hope you understand a little bit more.

Thanks for your good wishes.

I think that would be a much better use of your time and resources.
