Thank you so much everyone. I am feeling a lot better after sleep, steam, lockets and nasal spray. I'm sure colds never used to affect me so badly!

Hot steamy sessions are good! (I thought someone would have commented on these before now.)

Also any spicy food with loads of chilli peppers to make you sweat. Also whiskey, or more specifically Hot Toddy (with added honey).

As above plus:

I'd add a second vote for Sudafed Nasal Spray.

Nothing clears your sinuses better, use approx 3 times daily. Does dry your nose out and can cause a reflex congestion when you withdraw usage, so I try and use first thing in the morning and last thing at night, then gradually wean myself off it when I actually feel better. Also gotta love Lemsips however look at the ingredients as they now have about 7 different versions all at different prices and there only seem to be two different formulations (one has more paracetamol).

I also try and up my Vit C while I'm ill (and whilst those around me are ill), either by diet or tablet.

Lots of pseudoephadrine for the sinuses - I like the 'Contac' and you only need to take it twice a day. Stops my nose running AND clears sinuses.

If you feel coldy with a headache ibuprofen & codeine is wonderful stuff (Nurofen Plus/Cuprofen Plus)

Lots of sleep helps too

Oh and a PS to that, and NOT to be done with benylin cold and flu as it contains paracetamol,

1 measure whisky

1 lemsip

2 teaspoons honey (runny)

spoonful sugar to taste.

Put all above in a large mug and dissolve in hot water, drink in 4-5 gulps when cool enough not to burn, put on your heaviest tracksuit, and go to bed. Early.

You need lots of sleep to get better.

Tunes to clear the blocked nose. About the only thing that did mine. Have also used a Sudofed nasal spray when sinuses were giving me pain, seemed to do the trick for about 4 hours at a time.

Dare I suggest Holland & Barrett have a very good sinus and cararrh homeopathic prep, which did seem to help me, even though I am highly sceptical of treating anything with "nothing".
