Well I just didn't realise that there were 101 Healthy Recipes EACH for canine liver disease, Addisons and feline kidney disease.

These websites really tick me off. I can't seem to find an e-mail address on these fantastic websites to let this guy know what I think of him!

Makes me glad I don't practice in Amercia, it must be a constant battle against disgraceful people like these.

Same problem recently when trying to find some info for a client on hypoadrenocorticism. Search for 'addisons disease in dogs' on google and the top link is as above 'www.addisonsdiseasebreakthrough.com 4 Facts Your Stupid Vet Failed To Warn You About Dog Addisons Disease' if you actually go and click through to the site the mis-information is VERY scary.

Yes, that's the aim - if people are looking for more information on a subject we can tell them to use the search on our site so that we know they're getting useful information rather than all the pseudoscientific rubbish that you often have to wade through.

The range of information has to be comprehensive enough for people to consider using in preference to Google which is why sites like Merck are good (although I take the point about it discussing American drugs which may not always be relevant. It's also fairly technical which may not suit all clients). You can type in most subjects that you can think of and find information.

If there's enough good information then people will go back to it. It also saves having to remember a long list of websites and write them out for owners to look at. You just say use the search button on our site to get the info you want.

I realise it's not going to stop owners from using Google. If they don't use the search on the site I can't stop them but I can't see it doing any harm to have it there

The ability to block ads from certain sites will be useful (if I can get it to work!). If you google Metacam the 1st thing you will see is lots of adverts for how to get it cheaper online, so loss of business is a problem that can be circumvented. You can also get rid of annoying adverts - if you google dog liver disease or dog kidney disease the 1st thing you will see is "canineliverdiseasebreakthroughs.com 4 Facts Your Stupid Vet Failed To Warn You About Dog Liver Disease" which isn't what I'd like clients to see!

I agree, although I think it depends to a degree on how much content you have on your site. If it is obviously a mine of information, a reader will be more likely to use a search function on the site. Otherwise, I agree with Michael. Most people just google.

Myself I wouldn't link to Merck because it's very American and much of the drug stuff is very different.

Not sure clients would search for info via your site - I certainly wouldn't - I use google in my toolbar!
