If I was applying for jobs, I wouldn't touch that one with a barge-pole. If an employer can't give us proper respect by referring to us as veterinary surgeons, then they are unlikely to give us proper respect after employing us. Mind you, we've brought it on ourselves, as we often refer to ourselves as "vets " not veterinary surgeons, or veterinarians. When I was a new grad, I was twice reprimanded by the late Prof Alaisdair Steele-Bodger for saying vet. I, at the time thought him unnecessarily pedantic, and was slightly resentful to be told off for something everybody else was doing. I have now come to the conclusion that (as usual ) he saw further than everybody else, and saw the long-term consequences of our lack of self-respect as a profession-just like he saw the consequences of practices under-charging for professional advice, and relying on drug mark-ups 40 years before the Competition Commission !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I imagine he'd be a generous employer. If they were paying by the word for the advert he'd have saved 4 words using MRCVS
