Must say, it's a very odd feeling looking at the home page of this site, and seeing the title of this thread.

I'm in two minds as to whether I want to lock the thread, so that it slips from view, or instead ask you all to try and keep it going for the rest of the year, so that I wake up to a nice message every morning. Flip side is that I might end up with an ego the size of an Airbus A380.

On balance, best lock it!

But thank you very much again, everyone. Really spurred me on.

You can count me in too - this is an excellent web site - well mentored with a good 'culture' (well, mostly !). It can't be easy keeping tabs on nearly 4,000 potential contributors but it's working, and so much useful information and support as well.

Evelyn, not quite sure what you mean. Certainly wasn't meaning to be weasel; just to be clear that RCVS doesn't act as an approving body for CPD and instead just provides rules as to what does and doesn't qualify. All I did was check we were within those rules. I didn't want to claim credit for doing more than that!

But thank you Evelyn, Laura, Roberta and Tim for your generous posts. They mean a great deal to me. More than you can probably know!

I certainly second those thanks.

Because of our location some of us can feel isolated from useful professional discussion and this site goes a long way towards filling the gap. Some might say "But, hey, there are many specialist forums on-line". Yes, there are but discussions on them can be rather limited (blinkered, if you will excuse the pun); this forum has a good general ambience.

Even a casual remark from an SA practitioner can set off a train of thought (and investigation) in the mind of an LA vet, or a lab chap like me. It is a good and friendly way of keeping up with professional trends and opinions.

Yes, there have been a few sleepless nights. At one point early last year, I was thinking I'd just invested everything in a very swanky new system for me to talk to ... er .. me.

Funny you should post that today. I was just saying to my wife earlier how I think we've reached the 'critical mass' needed to make this site work - i.e. enough people now using it that there is usually something interesting going on, and a good chance that you'll get a useful reply to a question.

In fact, I didn't get the site CPD approved. No CPD is approved as such. It was just a case of checking with the right people that activity on VetSurgeon can qualify towards CPD, within the existing rules.

Anway, I'm dead chuffed by how things are coming along, and bowled over by your post. What a great day. Thank you!
