It does demonstrate the ease with which this sort of thing can be done these days, if an idiot like me can do it, without any training.

Anyway, for the fellow geeks, the film was made with: a Sony HDR SR7E Handycam, and edited using Sony Vegas Pro, running on a Dell 2.33Ghz Xeon Quad Core with 4mb RAM and 64bit operating system.

That's fairly expensive kit (bought a couple of years ago), but I think HD cameras are now sub £500, and Sony's consumer editing software is sub £100.

Re: Where's Arlo?

Excellent video, very professional. What software do you use to edit it & get the captions on etc?

I don't quite get that.

Hannah, really sorry to miss you too. I was walking round the commercial exhibition all day (wearing the baseball cap to identify myself, as I said I would in the last email, though noone said hello as a result!).

I did have a great day, though, and bumped into all sorts of interesting people, most of whom I hadn't met in the flesh before including: the very affable Phil Balchin from Vetz, the friendly lot on the BVDA stand: Lisa Millela, Gerhard Putter and Pete Southerden (really interesting conversation with Pete about the overal state of veterinary dentistry in the UK, and I'm hoping we'll be starting to add some educational stuff on the subject to vetsurgeon.org soon), the utterly charming Caroline Johnson, the irrepressible Alan Robinson, the person I most enjoyed working for, when I worked for other people (in my old Novartis days) Nicki Glen, my grandmother's vet from Jersey, Jeremy Miller, very good bloke who did a bit of a double take seeing me completely out of context on the mainland, and last but not least Malcolm from VRCC who gets an honourable mention for promising me lunch
