Am thinking about having an image makeover (for the practice not me!) as I feel we have been stagnating for a while. One of the things Im looking at is clothing. Obv our nurses/trainees wear green or stripes. I also think that tunics provide a more professional look. I only wear surgical scrubs for surgery but they certainly hold less hair that polo tops or sweat shirts too. I guess it's down to the tight weave allowing less friction between hair and clothing.

All that becomes pointless when presented with a rabbit as I cough and sneeze my way though a cloud of hair.

Re: Work wear
For those of you who wear polo shirts to consult - do you not find they get clarted with hair?
if you are a really smick, up there practice then wear something really upmarket and highly professional.

You need to have an all over theme - your building presentation, handouts, stationary, uniforms, decor all need to match and 'shout' the same message.

A tank top in a really smick building and with smick decor does not cut it - and vica versa.

There are now some fantastic uniforms around - look at the banks and other organisations like that. This really works well

CLEAN white coats certainly increase compliance and professionalism - AND they create a barrier. So again need to see if white coats work for you.

on the 'naked' theme -

By the way - once or twice a year drss up days really add to the practice culture 0 say an Elvis dress up day - or Friday 13th etc jockeys etc.

Great for morale and fun

Re: Work wear

We have plenty of heating but the cold weather does make it a bit safer for me!

Might bring in the customers, certainly!

I guess a lot of it is what you're comfortable with. I have a tiny practice but the support staff wear a green uniform, the Cherokee mock wrap style, with the practice logo on it. I wear a scrub top for consulting, the Cherokee Flexibles range. I think it looks much smarter than regular scrub tops but that could be just me. I wear a blue top also, to be a bit different. Our logo colours have blue and green, so it works for us.

I did see a practice once where the nurses wore black uniforms, which looked really smart.

We don't have receptionists but I don't know if they could just wear the same as nurses or do they need to be differentiated? I know some staff can be funny about things like that.

Hope that helps a bit!

Re: Work wear

Laughed out loud

Re: Work wear

so we all work naked then?
