I said I'd post if and see what you think.

The scene takes place some in the 2000's and it is for film. Thanks

7. EXT. FARM YARD. DAY.
ALICE (Blonde, attractive, well spoken, intelligent, funny.) is with CHARLIE PASCO (Sixties, farmer, Cornish.) They are in a stable looking over a horse. ALICE examines the horse. CHARLIE stays at the door of the horse box.

ALICE
So what actually happened?

CHARLIE
My daughter was riding him this morning. He bucked her off and then bolted. Then he got himself caught up in a barbed wire fence and cut himself into the bargain.
ALICE
Right.
ALICE examines the horse's fetlock.
ALICE
Ok. Well the cut isn't too bad. Does he usually buck?

CHARLIE
No he hasn't been himself recently. He's been a stroppy bugger lately. Especially when he's been tacked up.
ALICE
Has he been eating normally?
CHARLIE
Yeah. But he's lost some condition.
ALICE
Right ok. I think we need to scope him, but first I'm going to get a sedative and clean his wound.
ALICE walks out of the horse box. CHARLIE looks at the horse and shakes his head.

I wouldn't examine a horse without someone holding the head collar, especially if looking at something painful like a wound. Depending on temperament and light I usually prefer them out of a relatively small stable for space/light.

How is she deciding that the horse with a recent injury is not painful from that versus an ulcer?

I think "I will need to take him in" makes it sound like an ambulance service. I understood a lot of gastroscopy undertaken at the yard.

I shall not stereotype about the lady horse vets here.......

RE: Does this script sound plausible?

I would never be categorical , usually qualify statements like probably , likely etc

out of horse medicine for a while - how do equine vets come up with a suspicion of ulcers ? Or is it so common many horses have them ? And I presume you would need to do more than put your hands on the girth area as the horse would be regularly tacked up

how much accuracy is required for the script Arlo ?
