That Trump will hold firm and that it will lead to a world recession? Or that he'll be forced to climb down? Or somewhere in between?
It seems to me that Trump's tactics are batshit crazy. As an economist pointed

RE: Trump - are we looking over the cliff?
whatever politicians do, people always find a way to buy and sell things from one another’.
The US company my brother works for were looking at legal ways of rerouting chinese goods via other countries before Trump was even reelected. Unsure whether or not it would be successful, as tariffs have been imposed on many other countries too ?

I was talking to a friend last night who works for JLR. Currently between 1 in 5 and 1 in 4 of their cars are sold in the US, but they are now looking to reduce this and expand into other markets, particularly South East Asia and arab countries.

RE: Trump - are we looking over the cliff?
He was saying in all seriousness, that there is an upcoming and growing market in South East Asia, and that he could sell his product there easily and dump the US trade altogether.
Part of me wonders whether it’ll be like the Russian oil shock, after which the market rebalanced. As one economist said to me a few years ago, ‘whatever politicians do, people always find a way to buy and sell things from one another’.

RE: Trump - are we looking over the cliff?
2029 feels a long way away.
Could be 2033, he wants to do a third term.

My brother is based in the US and works in international shipping, he says things are nuts at the moment; tariffs introduced, changed or deleted on a daily basis. It is taking them 6 to 8 weeks to get goods through customs because half of the officials have been fired with immediate effect with 8 months pay, while the other half are working to rule or are on strike. Fustercluck.

Brother also says, cost of day to day goods are rising and folk are starting to question Trump and his BS.
America outsourced its clothing manufacturing to China not just because it's cheaper but because American workers were not interested in making clothes. That latter thing hasn't change
That's what I don't understand. Trump wants to bring manufacturing back to the US and "make us great again", but just like here in the UK, who is going to do all of the menial minimum wage labouring jobs? In addition he is deporting the very immigrants who could fill those vacancies. Nuts.

Listening to the radio driving to work, they were interviewing the CEO of a London based company that makes posh upmarket snob based popcorn (I thought popcorn was popcorn, but everyday is a school day). He was saying in all seriousness, that there is an upcoming and growing market in South East Asia, and that he could sell his product there easily and dump the US trade altogether.
