Thanks. That was what I thought, but I wondered whether some were still registering chips manually or whether there was some change to GDPR that was giving the impression that owners had to provide their own personal information. I did ask them how long ago this was and whether they had details of the vet practice but answers there were none so I assume it was just the usual "everything is the vet's fault" posts

Agreed, the PMS sends all the pet and owner details to the database (via vetenvoy); often the client's phone pings with the confirmatory email before they've left the consult room.

Every practice I work for includes all available information, in addtion we always check with the client that address and contact details are all up to date, as well as who actually owns the dog.

We still see a fair few that have been microchipped by breeders, but the chips have not been registered.

I agree with this - I always check the details on the PMS, then it automatically registers. It will be lay people chipping more than likely.

We use Identichip and our PMS automatically registers the details. We can’t send it if anything is missing. But I suspect a lot if the problems arise with chipping of breeder litters not being registered. Especially if they use cheap lay chipping people who use chips on obscure databases.
