I've got a question.
I've been running around behind the scenes talking to referral practitioners and getting a really positive reaction to the new question format we now use in these forums, and the whole concept of this community now being

RE: Is this compelling to a GP vet?

Beats - you're right, regulars don't need to subscribe. But I have now heard quite a few people say they were not regular visitors and the email digest is a useful prompt.

So sorry, i changed the link above to make it more memorable for sharing on social media and so I could add it to a film. Went to update it, and then got diverted. Now fixed and here it is: https://www.vetsurgeon.org/p/questions

And I have made a youtube 'short' to explain the system. Had to keep it to 60 seconds, which is not enough time to explain all the benefits over other social media.

I think it took me about 564 takes to be able to say that so quickly without stumbling!

Will probably make a few more shorts highlighting different benefits of participating in the community.

So I no longer subscribe to anything.

Your link doesn't open for me, Arlo, but I suspect it will be compelling to those who still subscribe to emails (I used to be in that category). Mozilla Firefox, in private mode, work computer, able to load this thread and type, tried three times to open that link.

I like the forum format, and check in frequently enough that an email digest wouldn't appeal to me, but I think would work well for many.

Specifically, this is one of the few websites that I can load in front of my kids and not cringe at the images of adverts that come up on the screen. Go VetSurgeon.

RE: Is this compelling to a GP vet?

Well, the good news is that we are up to about 150 subscribers now, which may seem like a small number, but as a group of people prepared to help with each other's questions, I think that's a really solid start!

Would still appreciate anyone else's thoughts!

RE: Is this compelling to a GP vet?
Not sure about the email concept - I have 73,737 unopened emails. If I subscribe you will add another one to that, and I won't open it.
Bah humbug! (although I do accept you make a fair point)

Some people get more emails, some people get less. I get hundreds every day (press releases, marketing stuff, gadget stuff, personal etc).

I open ones that have value to me, regardless, and that is my question for you, whether you think a skim readable list of questions asked by vets is a compelling proposition (either to see if there is anything you'd like to know the answer to too, or anything you can help with).

I'm not suggesting everyone will open every one and read every day (or week).

Just whether you think I have explained it OK, and whether you find it a compelling proposition.

Incidentally, it is a significant improvement over the old system, which required you to subscribe by thread, and any time someone posted anything to the thread, it was another email.

Anyway, I guess I know the answer as far as you are concerned!

I would just say that regardless of how often you open them, subscribing helps my efforts, because it helps give me a subscriber figure I can use to encourage others to do it!

Yes, this is my plan.

But I need proof of concept to justify the not inconsiderable expense.

RE: Is this compelling to a GP vet?
If not compelling, how can I improve it?
