Not sure how any business can get away with much at the moment. Almost any qualified staff can get new jobs easily.

Seems to be a near perfect storm at present.

I wonder why?

It is a pity that they feel the need, and life would be so much better all round if they could sort any differences directly with the boss with some good straight talking.

But, I guess, in corporate world it ain't happenin any time soon

On the whole, unions completely meaningless to me, a small business. I understand less than 50 employees, no need to recognise them.

There is nothing to stop them joining one of the mainstream unions if they want too.

Having seen the way some of our nurses are being treated by some (not all) of the corporates recently, they should stand up and say enough is enough. Just a matter of time.

Being a self-employed locum, I am going to request an 11% payrise from myself. If I don't get it, I might just withdraw my labour :-)

I've always had the sense that the BVU never gained much traction, although perhaps in the forthcoming winter of discontent, vets and nurses will join lawyers, rail workers, telecoms workers, Royal Mail workers, etc out on the streets.
