As such I would need to consider indoor toiletting/exercise for dogs. I have not come across this elsewhere and worry I am being too ambitious as ventilation could be

RE: Indoor dog toilletting/exercise area

Thinking out loud, I suppose in that case you could provide an indoor run by providing a grassed area with some plants? Grass will grow with very little soil but plastic grass would be scrubbable and might fool the dogs?! You would have to control the humidity and smell somehow, but the plants might do that if you pick the right ones. Indoor mock lampposts?! A wetroom design with easy access waste traps? Keep thinking of ways round it if you have found the right location for your practice. Most things are surmountable if you have parking and chimney pots.

RE: Indoor dog toilletting/exercise area

[quote userid="8858" url="~/001/nonclinical/f/life-in-practice-discussions/30253/indoor-dog-toilletting-exercise-area/236824#236824"] I'm not sure if the practice standards scheme requires an outdoor exercise area, but I suspect it might.
PSS for Core Standards says; ''Sanitary facilities for ambulatory canine in-patients must be provided.
These may be outside and precautions must be taken to prevent the escape of patients.''

Most practices, if they don't have a suitable enclosed outdoor run, will take dogs outside double-leaded to reduce likelihood of escape. Off the top of my head I don't recall seeing an indoor toileting area.

RE: Indoor dog toilletting/exercise area

Most dogs wouldn't 'go' indoors, so it may not really work. Industrial units usually have a back door, can you take them out that way? Some (older) practices can only take animals out on a lead (double lead?!) into the car park, which isn't ideal. I'm not sure if the practice standards scheme requires an outdoor exercise area, but I suspect it might.
