&lt;p&gt;Well, I wouldn&amp;#39;t call it an argument! I think it is an inexact science, and they weren&amp;#39;t out by a lot, and the valuer said, very fairly, that if I could show examples of cars that justified a higher valuation, he would consider it, which is exactly what they did.&lt;/p&gt;

I&amp;#39;ve put a deposit on a reasonably like for like car, same year, same mileage, a few less toys but a bit more pimped up (drug dealer darkened windows).&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Well, I&amp;#39;ve had the first offer from the insurance company. I was assuming it would be dreadful, and actually not too bad.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I think they are out by about &amp;pound;1,400,&amp;nbsp; (and my garage says they would put a forecourt price of &amp;pound;2400 more), but that&amp;#39;s not bad in the grand scheme of things. And whilst I am not as clever as your daughter&amp;#39;s boyfriend, the car has only lost about 10K in nearly 4 years, which is pretty good if you ask me!&lt;/p&gt;
