Martin Hamilton I've done that ... changed all the ologists to ologys. So you can now go and upgrade your profile!

And everyone else ... do start thinking about completing your VetSurgeon profile with the professional info you'd want your clients and prospective clients to know ...

I believe even by rephrasing the titles from "Dentist" to the field of "Dentistry", likewise changing "Neurologist" to "Neurology" etc would be easier and would avoid any problems. There's no reason I can't say that I am in a Dentistry referral service, I just cannot say that I am a "Dentist".

As for the number of residents worldwide, you're probably looking at <1000. I just thought I'd bring it up as your site update plans on making these profiles easier to view for the general public.

The current referral choices are:

Cardiologist, Dentist, Dermatologist, Neurologist, Feline, Small Animal Medicine, ECC, Avian and Exotic, Behaviourist, Oncologist, Ophthalmologist, Orthopaedist, Anaesthetist, Parasitologist, Endoscopy, Physio, Soft tissue surgery, Radioiodine, Radiologist, Acupuncturist, Equine, Alternative, Pathologist.

The complication is that presumably there aren't residencies in all these things, the titles are of course not all protected.

So I can't just create 'resident in ...' alternatives for each one.

Another thing is that there is some inconsistency that some disciplines lend themselves to being an 'ist', where others don't.

How many residents do you think there are in the veterinary profession, globally? Thousands? Tens of thousands?

I think the best solution might be to add a new 'Resident' tick box on registration / in the profile, which would then append (Resident) after the choice selected above. So it would become Dentist (Resident). Or Equine (Resident) and so on.

What do you (and anyone else), think?

It could be useful to allow it to link into platforms like:

- Linkedin

- Researchgate

- PURE accounts (university academic CVs effectively) or other workplace profiles.
