Is anything cooler than Mad Max's Pursuit Special? Clearly James Bond's Aston Martin DB8 from The Living Daylights and the white Esprit Turbo from The Spy Who Loved Me are very high up on the list as well. I always wanted the Mitsubishi Starion from Cannonball Run 2 as well.

My ex-sister in law bought one of the Chitty Chitty Bang bang cars as she worked on the original film. I understand there were several of them. Not sure it was actually functional (she is in the film industry). Not sure what happened into it!

Correction she did not work on the film, just knew someone that did!!!

Yes, I enjoyed that, although i cant remember it! I may watch it again. One of the joys of middle age and beyond. I can watch a film many times, each time the first I've seen it!

Nope, afraid not. Falls into that small sub-set of films that take place over a single day/ evening and in which nothing much happens. (See also: Before Sunrise etc) Doesn't sound like a selling point, I will admit!

If you're after some good car chases, have you seen Baby Driver?

My all time favourite car. BYD 885J I had it at college for 3 years, red with black wings, did the welding myself on the farm. Foolishly left it at the RVC after I qualified, meant to get it back, but it was towed away after 6 months as it was considered a bomb threat when Princess Anne came to visit

Okay Iain. I stand corrected re. chitty-Citty but it looked like a Silver Phantom or similar? And yes, I forgot about McQueen's Mustang!! I bet if the question was asked in the USA, it would get 9i99% of the votes! My vote always goes to he Aston! ot least because I just love the make. When aged about 11 years, my Dad's friend took me out for a ride in his DB6! A beautiful vehicle and 60mph dow a narrow country lane was pushing it!! But we made it back okay!! Thanks Mr Giligan!! B Never to be forgotten as you can probably tell. My dream car ever since!! Except maybe for a Lambo' Miura in theearly 1970s!!

Main problem would be carrying my bike on either of those!! Got to get my priorities correct haven't I ??

Are we talking best car to appear in a movie or the best significant role of a car in a movie?

The driving scene in the Alps in Goldfinger takes some beating but the DB5 while beautiful, steers like a cow.
VW beetle may look fun, but they are horrible
Steve McQuen's Mustang in Bullitt takes some beating
Chitty wasn't a Rolls (or a Royce) but a composite built by Caractacus Potts (sold to him by Q)
The DeLorean was very significant in the film, so too was Genevieve,
HOwever the winner is the Mini Cooper obvs
