There are now excellent electircal stunning devices for crab and lobster, so no need for anything else. I don't know about cephalopod though

I always find it rather interesting that people seem to give up red meat "for welfare reasons" but continue to eat chicken and fish, when I certainly would choose being a cow or a sheep over a broiler chicken any day, and humane slaughter for trawled fish *can* exist (I'm fairly sure I read an article on the subject once) but certainly doesn't seem to be an industry priority. But chicken and fish aren't cute and fluffy so their welfare seems to exist further down the list for most...

For me there are big questions over trawled fish, I'm trying to avoid these now. The boat impounded by the French last month was a bottom dredging scallop boat, has put me off ever eating these. Modern land agriculture is at least reasonably specific in regards the animals we do kill for consumption

Yes, Pithing, and I have details somewhere of the anatomical landmarks to do this effectively. Prawns/shrimps are boiled alive but because of their small size, thy should die very rapidly, unlike a crab or lobster? Thanks for your reply Bevs, appreciated...!

Can't eat octopus (or squid) anymore after seeing excerpts from "My Octopus Friend". Don't eat lobster or crab (prefer to see them in a natural setting during a dive). Boiling alive would be horrendous. How do you kill them first - pithing ? Still eat fish and prawns but (hopefully) from sustainable sources. Pescatarian (vegaquarian).
