I've been a bit quiet for a few days because I've had a mountain on my plate ... been making the first clinical demo film with Alasdair, progressing the subject of this thread, plus doing some interesting stuff involving veterinary ethics, plus one daughter on half term, then having to do mountains of paperwork to try and get deputyship for the other, plus gadget reviews, then tomorrow its newsletter day, then Tuesday off to Great Ormond Street for the night. Hardly time to draw breath.

BUT ...

I'm delighted to say that a number of people have stuck their hands up to get involved in this initiative.

My original plan was that this should be about more than making a film. In particular, I wanted to create a group here where people who have come unstuck on social media can come and commiserate with each other, and get help and advice.

That was due to come later, but then I thought it would be easier if we coordinate films from this group too.

So I have set up the new group. I wanted to make it less visible to the outside world, so it is not listed (so forum topic titles are not visible to the public).

So, those of you who've already stuck your hands up, david kemp and George Cooper, I'll make you a members of the new group and send you the link.

Anyone else interested in being involved, the more the merrier, send me a PM and I will add you.

I hope that you succeed in persuading younger, female baton-carriers to offer to take part, whether it be in a "passive, filmed-in-action role or a full-frontal-verbal expose" there is also the "Voice-Over" avenue that could be a useful ancillary way to be part of the whole.

Just round the corner from me, which makes filming easy! Watched the BI film (or part of it at least!). Will put you on the cast list! Alasdair and I were talking about this yesterday (in between filming our next blockbuster "Removal of nasopharyngeal polyp in a cat") and we think actually, we should make a few of these films. Each represents an opportunity to convey a message and each will have its own audience.

I think we've now got 'wizened' represented (George also offered), what we need now are some of the younger generation too. And female representation!

Yes. Axe valley vets. 30 mins south of bristol. Did a video for bohringer on the benefits of echo for epic trial in dogs. Can be found on the BI academy site.

Over the weekend, another idea. To give this the best chance, we might make more than one of these films, and then either run more of them, or put them to the vote first amongst pet owners to see which resonates best, then amongst you all.

So if you want to help your profession, contact me. And if you know anyone who feels passionately about their profession and who you think could do this, share this thread with them!

suggestion - 1. Cut the "often" before 'especially painful'. It IS painful.
2. cut "fundamentally" substitute 'COMPLETE'
