The last horse I sent to the USA had two sets of papers one to Europe and one on to the states. The European papers had 71 individual applications of my stamp, the American had 3.

"This page is intentionally left blank" and stamp and signature!!!!!!!

In addition to the page X of Y.

I certificate number, sign and stamp the top because I lose the will to live and go stamp happy. All have reached their final destination so far. I have taken a bit of perverse pleasure in seeing how many stamps I can justify on one document!

After my first few, I started writing 'BLANK PAGE' in the centre of the blank page with my signature underneath and stamped this, and put the AHC cert number in the top right corner

It doesn't really cross out all the deletions on the declaration page it seems. Much less need to stamp that page compared to before, only by the page numbering now and not all the optional deletions. My bad, it does cross them all out! Yay!

Everybody check their inboxes! There is now a link from Improve to French and Spanish AHC's which have click boxes to automatically cross out the unwanted sections!! Happy days and thank you to the person responsible for doing this. It reduces our workload dramatically.

The requirement to put the 'z' across the page would suggest double sided printing is easier on the ink consumption.

I started to fill in the forms having opened the form from the APHA page. annoyingly this does not put the AHC number on each page automatically. Downloading the pdf and working on that does automatically fill the AHC number.

The Commodities certified for (I.25) box appears OK to tick but it disappears when printed out!!

I've been a bit confused on this point - about the blank sides of a single-side printed AHC. The notes for guidance state "All documentation should be stapled together and all pages (as opposed to sheets of paper) must be signed and stamped once individually", where the differentiation between sheets of paper and pages seems to imply that the blank sides need to be stamped and signed. On the other hand, obviously the AHC has "Page x of _" on each page, implying that the blank side of a single-side printed sheet isn't actually a 'page'! Perhaps it'd just be better to print on both sides.

The older AHC 09 that I completed in January had a 10th "intentionally blank" page. The latest version on the .GOV website does not. I do all of mine single sided and write nothing on the reverse of any page. Maybe the intentionally blank page was for those printing double sided?

Thanks Thomas and Bob. I saw the improve template version today. My feeling was the “this page left intentionally blank “ was for the example and not to be written within the AHC but it wasn’t clear. But yes, it did have a Z across the blank page and the implication that the unique certificate number would be written on and a stamps and initials in the middle ( presumably as the Z is an alteration to the page) and the stamp and signature at the bottom. I think I’ll go with that!

The example on the Improve OV website has all of these on the mid-document blank page (page 10), including the UCN. It also has 'Intentionally left blank' written on it, though I have to admit I've only just spotted that and haven't written it on the ones I've done so far!

We are doing a hell of a lot, I'd say at least 70% are non clients too because their vets have flat refused to do them. I'm doing on average 2 a day at least.

They definitely get quicker the more you do, I've done about 10 now and am now fairly happy with how to fill them in, I'd still quite happily never do one again though!

Many of ours have been non-clients (until we were swamped) so we don't have full clinical records other than those emailed to us.

We have copied the Pet Passports or produced ordinary vaccination cards when we have done the rabies ourselves.

Originally I tried to be helpful because so many owners were really struggling to get anyone to do the forms. They do get easier and quicker with time so it has been an OK exercise. All seem to have got across the border!

Next week it may be we are back to normal staffing - fingers crossed!!!

For evidence of vaccination I sometime print out the clinical notes from the day the vaccine was given. I always write that I've checked the microchip and write the number in the clinical notes when I give a rabies vaccine. That means just one page to certify and attach to the AHC. I've also been recording rabies vaccines in an animal's normal vaccine record card, but I hand write the details of the vaccine and batch number, and rather than just sign it I print my name, practice address and phone number, and record that I've checked the chip and its number, take a copy of that and again just one page to attach to the AHC.

My opinion is it should be blanked out for pets travelling with owners. It relates to pets travelling with an authorised person or carrier, not the owner. The owner needs to travel within five days of the pet.

Improve told us to leave it in so I have done just that.Even those 'teaching' us to fill in the forms are wrong IMO.

The AHC is valid for ten days.

So far (touch wood) all have worked OK. Down to 90 minutes including checking.with a second staff member.

I am seeing green stamps in my sleep so have bought a blue ink pad for a change of scene!
