I use to work locally to Cytopath and agree they were always excellent, great if you needed to call them to discuss a case and willing to give a best bet in inconclusive cases.

They've been part of CVS since 2002?

We have used Finn for many years, before and since being part of CVS ourselves, and have gone back to them previously from dalliances with Idexx and NWL. Cytopath have been good for eyes, and we always got a good service from Dick White's when we did use them

We wait and we wait and we wait. They have a base in Ringwood only a few miles away. We have had allergy screens take weeks. Coronavirus tests a week or more because everything seems to be sent to another lab.

That is sad to hear. Andy Torrance is/was just fabulous as are the rest of the team. Personally I have received just as good a service as previous and highly rate them still

We have found the service from VPG pretty bloo*y awful since the change from TDDS. Really not sure where to go from here.

Something we are going to sort out once we are settled back into a proper routine.

Does anyone use any of the academic institutions? The fees seem substantially lower, but this might be matched by general poorer customer service standards?

Abbey were great when I used them previously in a job >10 years ago, has the 2015 take-over by NWL affected them much? NWL then seems to be owned by NVS, which I know nothing about.

A private, professional histopathology service run and owned by veterinary histopathologists (who are at least 10 years off retirement age) might have been my preference if such a thing still existed; or a co-operative owned by a group of private veterinary practices perhaps. I'm happy to use different providers for specific histopath expertise (eyes, skin, liver etc) as needed, but looking for general all-round service for general histopath that everyone can use. Ability to tie-in via VetEnvoy with Teleos would be a plus, but happy to attach PDF emailed reports otherwise. Ability to submit photos digitally with submissions (and get digital images of slides back) would be a plus.

We use Finn. Used Idexx at our previous practice and histo took a lot longer to have results. Also Idexx is sending some of their work to Germany and looks like some samples have been destroyed in customs due to incorrect paperwork.

I have had no option but to use IDEXX for years and I don't trust them at all on histology or cytology.

If such things matter to you, Axiom and Finn are owned by CVS.

Used several over the years.

Abbey are part of NWL. Both very competitively priced. If you're in a buying group then they will very generous discounts on their list price. Generally excellent reports, and very helpful. Don't quibble over multiple samples etc.

Finn. Used them in previous jobs and same as above. They offer very good cpd. Easy to access patjologists. Very competitively priced.

Idexx. Avoid like the plague. Used them for a few years and equivalent of fixed priced lawyers.
