Bring back quarantine I say.

Living on an island and continuing to needlessly import diseases from elsewhere in the world seems madness to me.

I must be old-fashioned.

I've never completed a "Pet Passport" as I don't approve of taking pets on holiday to the continent and back.

And you would think folks would have learned from Dutch Elm Disease, but oh no, we've got rampant ash die-back devastating the island now - didn't actually ban the importation of ash trees from the continent until it was already here... totally daft.

You start by saying don't take as gospel anything on here, and check with the authorities. Then post some tangential scenarios.

In the UK, it'd be difficult for any vet to sign something they're not authorised to do, so I expect similar from them.

Scenario 1 - within the EU Schengen borders are never checked, this is part of the free movement in the EU so if the pet is in the car then how are border people to what paperwork they are traveling on. Unless cars with UK number plates are targeted. As a vet I cannot tell people what the human requirements for travel are or will be, regarding COVID or whatever, but I make people aware that they should consider this too.

2. No way for anyone to know this at this time. Sometime some can be very officious (thinking French regional) and some couldn't care less what they are signing as long as they get paid.

3. not heard this. In general the BREXIT discussions seem to be going well from what is reported so I don't see why there would be any extension to the time.
