When I launched the sites, the newsletter was called In Digestion and it contained a digest of the content from the site.

Yes, Liz was editing the old newsletter, but won’t be editing the new one, partly because it needs less editing, and partly because she has a lot of other stuff on her plate.

RE: VetSurgeon Newsletter

What happened to Liz Barton?
It's interesting how the television programme has completely changed the meaning of 'Room 101' to somewhere you put something you don't like, never to see it again, from it's original use in 1984 where it was the torture chamber where you were forced to face your worst fear.

RE: VetSurgeon Newsletter

[quote userid="8958" url="~/001/nonclinical/f/site-support-discussions/29275/vetsurgeon-newsletter/224801#224801"]I like a bit of stability.
My rule is that I publish at least one news story a day for that very reason. But I'm selective about what I publish.

In the past, if you published a print magazine, it was enough to tell advertisers that you sent it out to x thousand subscribers. Didn't really matter if they opened or read it. So if a company sent in a fluffy press release saying they had just recruited a new head of sales, or installed a new photocopier on the third floor, you'd publish it because a) it would please the advertiser, and b) why not? No matter that nobody other than the new head of sales' brother cared a hoot about their appointment.

Anyway, these days it's all much more measurable. I look at all the press releases I get and think first whether it is interesting or of practical value to a significant number. If not, then it goes in room 101.

Most days there is one interesting story. Some days two. Very rarely four. From time to time, there is nothing interesting going on, and I have to scrabble around and reach for something dull.

So I must admit, I was, er, surprised to read somewhere that Vet Times is upping it's game to report news more frequently, like every few hours. I did wonder what possible news is of SUCH pressing importance that vets and nurses would think "At last, thank god for that, no longer do we have that interminable 2 hour wait for the latest breaking veterinary news!"

RE: VetSurgeon Newsletter

I quite like it, but don't always open it.
