Have often wondered about the legality of sourcing flu vaccine and offering it to staff at work.

I saw the thread on VV and didn't read any of the replies. Let me guess "not trained to do that" "oh the humanity", "think of the children"

RE: Vets giving human flu vaccines
can we muzzle them before injecting??
Nah. Easier to pin them behind a door and give it in the arse (The injection that is)

RE: Vets giving human flu vaccines

There are many people I'd dearly love to jab with a needle on a daily basis.
We used to vaccinate our staff against rabies in South Africa - you will be surprised how tough the human skin actually is

RE: Vets giving human flu vaccines

I vaccinated my vet nurse, her friend and my husband for hepatitis A&B course years ago. Vaccinated myself in the leg (switched the long vaccine needle for a 23g 3/4 inch needle) as obviously couldn't do the arm - caused a massive bruise ! Needle too short, apparently. Had my vet friend give me the next 2 boosters (she was previously an RN before taking up vet). Avoid intranasal vaccines as much as I can (live Bordetella snorted everywhere - no thanks).

RE: Vets giving human flu vaccines

Lol...I'd sign up! Got to be easier than giving an intranasal kennel cough vaccine to a pug!

Seems sensible though ... If more personnel are needed to man temporary vaccination clinics, willing and able vets would be ideal.
