Well, we had a discussion about this when I was deciding what to call the new forums, and we decided 'Expert Help Forum' covered it (abbreviated to Expert Help, when space does not permit).

Sorry Jo Dyer, I did know that, but been struggling with excruciating gout pain in wrist for last week, and struggling to type/concentrate!

Is it worth titling it 'Questions for the experts' or something then, for people like me who aren't taking enough notice? I also note that if I click 'See all' which is next to 'Latest Question' it brings me to all discussions, not all Expert Questions, is this correct?

Also......Joanne Dyer isn't me, although we are both in Devon I think! Confuses everyone. I'm on here as Jo Dyer.

Joanne Dyer - you've missed my cunning master plan, then!

There are now two types of forum. First there are the normal discussion forums which anyone can take part in. Then there are the new Expert Help Forums, where anyone can post a question, but ONLY experts (largely defined as referral practitioners) are allowed to reply. This has a number of benefits:

1. You're getting an expert reply

2. The discussion stays very on topic because only the OP and experts can take part, and the experts focus on the question at hand.

3. People don't get their question picked apart (as sometimes happens in the general forum, and can feel like criticism) because the conversation is between one person who wants help, and another who wants to be helpful.

4. Expert opinion is elevated above 'any old opinion' and experts are rewarded for their time with proper attribution for their referral services.

A lot of work behind the scenes to get experts to come and get involved and I was aware of the unanswered question and meaning to go and prod a few people, but at the same time I've had a HUGE amount on my plate getting a few more tweaks to the system over the last few days, so will be back on the case next week.

Incidentally, the subject specific areas are not really aimed at people who are interested in all discussions. More for people trying to find specific information, and for experts who really want to stick to their area of interest.

Just a random observation.....when I log in, I always go to 'All Forums'. Therefore whichever category the posts are in is of no relevance to me. I noticed yesterday that there is a 'New Question' showing to the right-hand side of my screen, but not in All Forums. I see it has had no replies but feel that it would have had some if it was in Forums, don't know what anyone else thinks?

yeah - actually it is a setting when you share a link. You're supposed to click the insert menu to add the link, and if already made active by your browser, then edit it to say open in new window. Not sure whether we can do anything about it, but will ask.

Probably been raised before, but this is one of the few website where clicking a link throws you out of the website rather than opening a separate tab. As a result you need to log back in again (or use the back button) However I frequently just close the external link and so close Vet Surgeon. I think it's an easy fix

I clicked on Thomas's Primula link (interesting) so know it's still there

I quite like the anonymoty of the like as it was before. It meant you could like something controversial, unlike facebook where it's plastered all over the planet

With regard to Tangent from expert forums, just realised that because tangenting is part of replying, and only the original poster and experts can reply in the expert forums, currently only the OP can Tangent to a wider discussion. We're going to move the tangent button to overcome this problem, then ANYONE will be able to tangent.

Oh, and by the way, when you unsubscribe to a thread, it remembers that setting if you reply again later in the thread, so you don't have to repeatedly unsubscribe. Just the first time you post or reply to a thread.
