Do we count as health workers? The rules are different.

What we need is a reliable test to find out how far the disease has permeated through the country and whether the 'herd' immunity likely already achieved. There have been a number of opportunities to de-escalate the rhetoric but everyone is having such fun saving lives, dressing up and being morally superior to their neighbours....

Yes apparently if you get Covid case in workplace, you have to make a RIDDOR report

RE: Contact tracking - a few thoughts
Do we HAVE to have it?
If you mean the app, no I don't think so. But contact tracing is also done by simply asking the infected person who they've had contact with. If they name you....

RE: Contact tracking - a few thoughts

Teams are great except where you only have one vet... I don't have any answers for that except hoping to get a locum at very short notice if I need to self-isolate. I'm being very careful in my personal contacts but I have no control over what my staff do in their spare time.

As it relies on trust and us supplying the details of who we've been <1m away from for >15mins, and we have to supply their contact details, we might as well just text them ourselves! It also requires us to dob ourselves in for breaching social distancing which some people may be wary of doing.

I think the tracing app will work much better for today's society and how we are used to communicating.

RE: Contact tracking - a few thoughts

No tumbleweed. Suspect it will need to be supplemented with antibody testing or the rules bent for certain professions.

Interesting H + S element to this - suspect there will be some test cases in the courts in the coming months over H + S law where employers are accused of not providing enough or insufficiently protective PPE, or sufficiently safe working conditions, as it is the employer's responsibility to ensure this. Good time to be a lawyer.

Be nice to have some guidance from the RCVS/BVA on this...tumbleweed.

RE: Contact tracking - a few thoughts

Do we HAVE to have it?

RE: Contact tracking - a few thoughts

I assume a lot of workplaces are going to struggle with this. I can't see how it will work.

On the one hand we will be placing a cap on the length of consults to avoid anything over 15 minutes. This should be relatively easy.

however

Track and trace has potential to close the practice of a member of staff becomes ill. We are not in position to maintain 2 meters distancing and the workload is too intense for dedicated Vet/Nurse teams to really function well. ie we just wouldn’t get through it.

Has anyone seen anything which would provide guidance? Managing a team around this is going to prove a headache and significant work stress issues. The prospect of enforced isolation is causing me some distress over and above everything else.

It actually feels harder and worse than lockdown has been.
