Bob, leaders should lead. If he comes out saying Mr Cummings did not allow him to show his true self then he is a weak leader. If he was strong he would have dealt with it earlier. He can't be strong and at the same time in a weak position.

I go to the Daily Express for a laugh, BBC for a mild left lean. Telegraph for a mild right lean. Daily Mail on-line to find saucy pictures of ladies that I have never heard of in skimpy bathing suits. Sometimes the Mirror makes sense.

All a bit of pot luck but little of it fact.

Of course on here we know that everyone is an expert!!

It staggers me just how much people 'know' about the government and opposition motives. Too much soaking up the newspaper opinions and too little actual knowledge.

BJ is not really in charge just a figurehead chosen for his popular appeal !!!

Cummings is being rested as BJ handler so that he can debrief his bosses and prepare for the 'Gove our leader' campaign

BJ is a very weak leader, as for Cummings backers they include the FSB, the Elliots, Murdoch etc.

Carrie is just the BJ new handler and gives a narrative for BJ when it all goes wrong in Jan 2021 so that BJ can spend more family time and let Gove run for leader with Cummings

The BJ recent 2 week isolation is just a ruse to allow Carrie 1 on 1 contact time.

Daily Mail of all sources produced a map of links between BJ Gove Cummings Dido Bingham and their other halves and friends to show where money flowed from HMG to companies linked to their mates

As for £21 million for a middle man when no money available for free schools meals, £5m gap for Manchester deal or laptops for schools.... all of which is less than £21m......is scandalous.

That is the weakness of our FPTP system which I believe Cummings which involved in campaigning against the change proposed to system by Lib Dems

You are getting mixed up Clive, it is the EU that looks out for big business and the multinational corporations!

You are also sounding somewhat Trumpian - the Conservative and unionist party won the last election with 12%+ more votes than the next party and 120+ more seats. If a bunch of eligible people didn't vote, then that is (under UK rules) their prerogative.

Not really surprising that so many withheld their vote given the choice between BJ on one hand and Comrade Corbyn's Jew-haters on the other.

He's gone now so might be useless talking about him anymore but I heard a radio 4 morning interview with a conservative BJ supporter about Mr Cummings ejection. A few points that stuck in my mind:

1. His ejection will allow BJ to flourish and show his true self. True self which was hidden under Mr Cummings influence.

2. There was a power struggle at number 10

3. BJ partner is a great addition to the team as with her help BJ already improved: he lost weight, had a better hair cut and he is better dressed ( not my words, I quoted what was on radio)

My thoughts:

In my area, we have had a lot of problems with large gatherings at a local lakes, usually in the evening and lots of anti social behaviour, noisy BBQ's, raves, drugs, boy racers in fast cars, car thefts, house robberies. Even the coop was robbed at gunpoint one evening. Police are about as effective as a cat flap in an elephant house; they say they don't have the (*)manpower, the resources or the power to act

ps: (*) unsure if I am allowed to say manpower? should it be person/woman/transgender/other/prefer not to say - power these days ?

If you want to travel in the same way as a FMD virus might travel then you could take a hot air balloon and wait for a NE breeze which should carry you from Leicester towards Heathrow. Of course if the wind changes direction then there is a chance you could end up in Barnard Castle.

Hi Gillian. I shouldn't have to remind you as a vet but some viruses can travel without the help of human beings. Don't forget how the FMD virus can travel considerable distances on the wind and infect a farm several miles away from where the original outbreak started. Hopefully that isn't the case with Covid-19.

Wouldn't it? If they were going to pull a DC and stay completely holed up in their house, perhaps not... but it doesn't necessarily sound like they planned to do that. If they were going out for essential supplies like food, they'd still traveled from an area with quite high levels of virus circulating, to an area with low infection rates (the SW), to go out in the community and have contact with supermarket staff etc. Had they then fallen ill (even if otherwise remaining in the house with no contact with anyone) and needed hospital treatment, they could have taken COVID to a hospital that didn't have any cases. They might have had the best of intentions to stay isolated, but part of the reasons restrictions on travel etc exist is in recognition that sometimes circumstances occur that are outside their control.
