I guess ambulatory clinics will know better but I'm sitting here as a locum thinking, who is going to do this work? I locummed for a house visiting practice 10 years ago that stopped because the traffic density built up to such a degree it wasn't economic.

If the client is charged £100 then a guess? is that the locum will get £50. Therefore you need 6 visits a day to approach a normal rate. Sounds simple but this would take all day on an average day, assuming there is enough work

So relying on 'at home' vets twiddling their thumbs and looking for a bit of pocket money may not be a goer as how many are actually out there with a car/VDS/Insurance/RCVS, ready to go

Yup, same here. I had a woman call me this morning- she is registered with us but, unbeknown to me, she has been getting tablets from another vet for her dogs itchy skin, and now, in the midst of the pandemic, she wants me to prescribe these tablets that we had no idea her dog was on. I don't accept people who want to be registered with more than one practice- it's too dodgy in terms on prescribing something when you don't know what else the dog is on
