Well, it has no definition, yet. Following the current guidance section 4 I thikn is the way to go. It's robust, logical and with enough felxibility for this situation.

RE: **BREAKING** Urgent Update from RCVS/BVA

It should be made clear that we are in a wholly unusual situation. The normal rules are being relaxed specifically to cope with a disease outbreak. I have no doubt certain groups will take this as an opportunity to take advantage.

I accept there must be some allowance made in these wierd times but plenty of very good practices are going to be placed under almost intolerable strain.
I agree it is an emotive term, but technically correct if the prescribing is being done without a physical exam. What we must do is keep an Under Care relationship, even if that needs to be modified slightly to allow for currently unregistered animals which need care and will need to be examined in the future rather than having already been examined. Responsibility and accountability can then still be maintained.

RE: **BREAKING** Urgent Update from RCVS/BVA

All that needs happend is to avoid the use of the ill-defined term "remote prescribing".

RE: **BREAKING** Urgent Update from RCVS/BVA

I just hope that this doesn't open the door to carte blanche remote consulting and prescribing, relaxing of "under our care" and irreversible damage to the the future of the profession.

All the arguments against doing things remotely should still stand. I agree that there are some (limited) cases where video or phone consults are entirely appropriate.
