Looks like we are making good progress now. Have just finished testing the new programming which means only original post authors (ie questioners) and experts can reply to an expert forum thread, and it seems to work well.

I think private messages may be, well, if not completely fixed, certainly better. And we had an issue where content was not displaying to logged out members (ie our terms and conditions), and that should be working shortly too.

I think we are going for another deployment today. When it happens, it will probably 'break' the forums and stop anyone posting until I have reconfigured. Shouldn't take too long.

Very excited. This is the moment i have been waiting for.

The main forum leaderboard now on the right is all members EXCEPT experts/specialists.

The subject specific forums and group leaderboards are ONLY experts/specialists

We're SOOOO close now. I really want to have expert forums up and running properly first. For that, we need a bit of programming so that people who post questions in the expert forums are able to reply to their own post, then I can make it so ONLY they and the expert can take part in the discussion (but others can participate elsewhere).

Then I want to make a couple of launch videos (now I've had a bit more experience in front of the camera).

Then I want to launch to experts.

Then I want to launch to everyone else.

Not a lot of us are specialists but recognition is nice!

I think in terms of getting response, it may be time to bite the bullet and relaunch, to get a critical mass of users to get the gears rolling, honestly.

Deafening hush! So I've gone ahead and set up a site leaderboard of the top five most active in the last 7 days displayed on the right hand side, with a link to the top 10.

First thoughts on setting it up is that perhaps I should offer a prize for the most active newcomer, to encourage a wider range of contributions ...

Thoughts anyone?
