Rob Davis I have sent that over to developers, but I just spotted your screengrab has what looks like an AT Vet Systems logo attached, which makes me think perhaps there is something about the setup of your system that is doing that. Are you able to try a different browser (Chrome or Firefox)? on that machine?

Update - developers have asked if you could open a new private or icognito window in your browser, login to the site and see if you have the same problem. That will tell them if you have any plugins that are causing difficulties.

oh my god ... and I had this terrifying feeling you were going to do that to me! You are not being dim at all.

What on earth ....

I can see two problems with that a) the top level nav has all been pushed to the far right and is overwriting itself. Just right of the yellow box top right. And the page title (immediately below the advert), should be appearing on two lines - the text, the buttons.

Can I ask what type of computer and browser (inc browser version) you are using. And has anyone else seen this?

Yes

Main navigation runs across the top of the screen in the green stripe. Home, Veterinary Jobs, Forums, Interests, News, Galleries, My Account.

Under 'Forums', All expert q&As is one of the drop down menu items.

I didn't imagine it only being used for the most difficult questions! Could just be an opinion ... what do you think is best drug for x?

I don't think I understand Presumably prevented from answering?

But yes, if you read other people's questions and the answers and learn something, you can press 'claim cpd' and put it towards your annual requirement.

We may not know if it's going to work until we have a difficult clinical question (which isn't that often). If all the forums come up together as well, one could casually browse (presumably be prevented from answering) and learn and so and gain CPD points?

anyone ? Feeling a bit lonely in this thread.

Latest development, whilst we work on the second round of bug and design fixes ...

I think I have managed to get leaderboards working. In short, I configure the system to award points for certain activities, and the system creates a leaderboard of members based on those points.

The first application for that, is to award 10 points for experts who have their reply to a question verified by the question author as the answer.

I've added a leaderboard to the exotics group home page. On the left, you will see there is section which says EXOTICS EXPERTS in capitals, with the names of our two contributing experts.

Beneath is the leaderboard way of doing things, where the appearance and position on the list is dictated by activity over the preceding period (which I can configure).

At the moment, points are awarded only for having a verified answer. But I can add points for other activities too, like replying to normal posts.

Thoughts anyone. Marie Kubiak and Mark Rowland - do you like the way this is developing?

I have now split out the Expert Help Forums from the normal Discussion forums.

If you click Forums in the main nav it takes you to discussions, where only discussions are displayed.

If you click the drop down "All Expert Help Q&As" that brings you to a list of, well, surprise surprise, the Q&As.

NB - there are lot of old questions in the Q&A forums which date back years when we had no special purpose for the Q&A format on the site, so people would just mark their question as a question and it was otherwise meaningless. They will work their way out of the system, but in the meantime you need only pay attention to the new ones.

I have now categorised all Exotic referral practioners as Experts for that group, and will shortly be writing to all to announce the new system and invite them to participate.

I also plan a leaderboard for the most active expert participants - just trying to get that working now.

Meantime, what would be really helpful is some feedback! Do you like the way the concept is developing?

OK, I seem to have got to the bottom of that one, and have verified the answer for you Neil Wheadon.

So could you, and Mark Rowland now return to that thread here:

and see how your action of verifying the answer, Neil, has made Mark's post turn green (which would make it distinct if there were other posts in the thread), and added his logo and contact details.

There are still some issues to be ironed out here, but I hope everyone is as enthusiastic about this new format as I am ...

The action of verifying the answer is like saying 'thank you for helping, and I'm going to give you a plug in return', which is a nice gesture. And for you, Mark, my thinking is: 'What better way to advertise or promote your services than with a helpful answer which demonstrates your knowledge, with your contact details displayed prominently'.

The remaining issues with this really relate to permissions and who is allowed to do what. But the broad principle seems to me to work nicely.

(oh - and it looks nice on mobile phones too)

Arrrrgh Dammit, Janet. You wouldn't believe how fiendishly difficult it is to trace how the permissions are set on this system.

More grey hairs? I think the issue is more that my 'ozone hole' at the back of my head (where there used to be hair) is getting bigger by the minute.

Let me go and reach back under the hood and see whether i can find why on earth the permission is wrong ...

Tried to Verify Mark. It said i don't have permission. It was the verify tab RHS, seemed the obvious thing to click
