Thank you! I think it does make the whole thing look a bit more 20's.
Having said that, the snags are annoying.
Yes, I know, and I am sorry. Snags are inevitable with something of this complexity, where there's no budget (or time) for testing. But I think we have identified most of them, and I am hoping for a deployment of the fixes in the next ten days. Recent post, or 'continue reading' will probably take longer to fix. The software which runs this site is now at version 11. Prior to the upgrade, we were at version 8. We're now at 10 (for tech reasons we couldn't go straight to 11). 10 has the bug which is stopping that from working. We're not sure if it is fixed in 10.1 or 10.2, and even if it is, whether it would be just as simple to upgrade now to 11 (which should be a lot more straightforward than the leap we have just made).

That's probably more detail than you need. Point is that I'm away how annoying that one is, and will try to get fixed as soon as possible, but it is not quite as trivial as most of the other issues.

Meantime, my work around is that if I see a thread has only a few replies, I just click the link and scroll down. If lots of replies, I tend to click 'Newest' to bring up the most recent and work backwards.

RE: Forum discussion topics

I wouldn't worry too much, it's a quiet time of year.

Having said that, the snags are annoying. Like clicking on most recent post doesn't work and having to scroll through.
Good point. I'll add a 'OP' tab to the request list for developers, but bear in mind that we have a lot of bugs to work through, and then it will be a case of whether I am bankrupt by the time we've finished working through them!

RE: Forum discussion topics

Yes, but it gives a list of all forum threads I have posted on (including this one), and lists the last poster rather than who made first post - not easy to jog my memory of what cases I might have posted and then never provided follow-up to.
It's been happening for a while.
Yeah, I think a bit of both ie slight teething issues with new site, plus drift to Facebook, though probably more the latter.

I've put a lot of money and hard work into the new platform, hoping that it now offers a sufficiently improved experience that those who have drifted to Facebook will now return here for a better quality of clinical discussion: where you can see the provenance of the opinions and advice being expressed, where experts get properly credited for the help they give, where posting contributes to a knowledge bank for the profession and where information is so much better curated than 'what happened earlier today' (as on Facebook).

I am pragmatic, though. It may be that despite my very best efforts and a considerable investment, I am doomed to failure. In that case I may have to think about a new career path. That'll be tough at my age, and I'm worried about the prospect. The career options for 53 year old parents of disabled children living in the depths of Somerset are somewhat limited.

If that sounds gloomy, I actually don't feel gloomy at all. I think the new VetSurgeon is shit hot, and I think people will return.

Right at the moment, though, there are too many little glitches I need to get ironed out before I can tell the world about it, and new features which we have not yet been able to switch on. But they should be with us in the next few days.

Meantime, I hope what you can see already gives you cause for optimism as well!

RE: Forum discussion topics

It's been happening for a while.

I try to post something every few weeks, but as a locum it's not that easy because follow up is tough.

I try to post things that are relevant but at the same time not overly high brow, things that we deal with every day and I'm constantly delighted in getting some really interesting replies posted, the TT4 one has shown me something again and the diazepam one over Christmas was definitely a problem shared is a problem halved.

Into 2020 I'd like to see more common discussions, maybe post a case with an answer provided be this in house or via referral. The way I learn these days is short fast things, I can stare at an article all day but not pick up everything from it. In short this forum suits my CPD style and I can't be alone.

I have contributed to the odd face group clinicsl discussion and other familiar names are there but it really is not the same, many sites are dominated by diagnosis and treatments that are simply not within the realms of what I see others (advantage of locumming) in the profession are doing. It's more realistic here.

We've lost a few regulars, where's Clive Ansell now, so I'm the lone locum here (regular) Posting is easy and every client I have asked has been delighted, the commonest comment is a desire that their pets issue will be shared to help other animals, so everyone wins

    Happy New Year
