Yes, correct. It seems only to be an issue at the main hospital but the server is running about 18 computers so that may be why. It's just got slower and slower these last few weeks, now consults take 2-3 times as long waiting for the bloody thing to work!

I seem to remember that you work for an IVC practice? We switched from Voyager to Merlin about 3 years ago (a year before we joined IVC) and 3 months ago we switched to IVC's centrally managed Merlin. Our Voyager server was only running 5 computers and was very fast, Merlin is slightly slower, but I suspect from what you're saying it will be quicker for you! Being cloud based the speed is largely controlled by the speed of your broadband.

It's slower?! Eurgh. Can't get much slower than our voyager at the moment which is freezing regularly.

We’ve switched from voyager toMerlin. On the whole it’s pretty much the same although it is slower to run. Some things are a bit of a faff-eg histories split Into pages so you can’t quickly scroll through it all and the logging in of different people if you’re sharing computers. Did have a lot of teething issues, but settled down now.

Would be interesting to hear more about this. We currently use Voyager, but the demand on the servers means it runs so slowly sometimes and repeatedly crashes. Been told we will be moving to Merlin at some point this year - will this improve things?

How did you get on with Merlin. We are concidering moveing from Easyvet to Merlin. We used Voyager for 9 years and miss it. Any pointers? Are you happy with your move?

Servers are hugely inflated in price. For a small to medium sized veterinary practice, a high spec PC would be more than adequate as a server for about £7-8k.

Remember to keep the server in a room that is not frequented by animals and is vacuum cleaned on a regular (e.g. monthly) basis. Have the room air-conned too and will give more life.

If you are used to using Voyager the transition to Merlin will be very straightforward, we switched about 18 months ago and they are very similar to use, and it makes sense to me! You will have to choose how many licenses you want to buy, i.e. how many simultaneous log-ins there can be, we have fewer licenses than we have computers and we don't often find it a problem, we just have to be a bit more careful to log-off when we finish using a computer, and if you are struggling you'll just have to bite the bullet and pay for more licenses.

wouldnt touch it with a barge pole! So many clicks to do simple jobs, accessing patients details and waiting room lists really illogical to me!
