I don't tend to use walk ins for these - try to maintain in smaller steel kennels until mobile and alert. Should an incapacitated patient require such a kennel (st bernards etc) we would plan to turn floor off!

RE: Walk in kennels - underfloor heating?

But will seriously ill or post-surgical doped to the eyeballs dogs actually move to get away - unlikely I would think.

RE: Walk in kennels - underfloor heating?

https://www.warmup.ie/products/heating-mats

something along these lines - with thermostat within the floor (not room thermostat) - would be looking to do 1/3 - 1/2 of floor space (1.2 x 1.6m) to ensure dogs could get away from heated section

re tiles - yes level and coved floor coverings have been ripped/chewed/dug up multiple times, epoxy flooring is never non-slip enough and paint is never stable enough.

I will be using non-slip tiles coved to the wall and set with epoxy grout (as used in food-prep/medical/dairies) - should be non-stain, urine and waterproof!

RE: Walk in kennels - underfloor heating?

[quote user="Dinu Catilina"]Which type of electric floor heating?
I assume the kind of electric heating mats that are sold to put under the tiles in your bathroom at home? Beware some of these that don't seem to have any kind of thermostat.
I'd question tiled floors from a bit of a hygiene standpoint, and if you are having to keep replacing your floor covering, it must be getting some abuse and will the tiles survive this any better?
Otherwise, underfloor heating in the kennels sounds lovely

RE: Walk in kennels - underfloor heating?

I would be hesitant to use such a thing in case of contact burns - like we've seen from dogs using snuggle safe devices or electric heat pads during surgery.

RE: Walk in kennels - underfloor heating?

Interested in it as well!
