I wondered if it was planned as well, although it was announced with immediate effect they had someone ready to move in to the role of CEO, and someone to take that person's position as well.

that would be my guess, but many possibilities of course.

Given that he has been enjoying a remuneration package of around £500,000 PA, guess he could afford too.

in contrast some of the mrcvs' and rvn's that pay for it with their commitment and hard work, will be beavering away until they drop. such is life I guess.

If so, why sell 100000 shares and retain 160000 - surely by your logic he'd sell them all?

Maybe he is going onto a christmas special celebrity Apprentice ?. Shares are still a strong buy on H&L, although 30% down on their 2 years ago peak. These people have a limited shelf life ,the endless acquisition business phase is over, It maybe that they have decided to change things with a new person with a record in consolidation?.

Of course I can appreciate how it must be concerning for those that rely on them for employment, but to put it bluntly who cares knows.

Isn't that a case of adding two and two and coming up with ten?

I mean, I would think it unremarkable if a CEO sold their shares at the end of their tenure. The more interesting question is why he left, surely. It could be something unremarkable, like 'had enough' or it could be, er, something else (I know I am stating the plainly obvious!)
