I got a sore throat (okay, it was a bad one that lasted for a week, but was still a sore throat) and was told I had swine flu. Last year I would have had "tonsillitis".

Maybe that explains, though, why I didn't have any side effects from the vaccine...

Had it once in August- knocked me off for 7 days- even if I had been able to get out of bed I wasn't physically safe to practice.I've never had flu before this. But with regards to in contact- very hard not working when you feel fine-ideal from disease control but not the economy!

Wouldn't wish the blasted thing on anyone.

My other 1/2 has now has swine flu twice(????) but I havent had it yet. Obviously I shouldnt go in and spread it if I get it but should I take time off every time he thinks he has it. If so will the boss be suspicious if google earth catches me out in the garden?

It really was a tongue in cheek question - on one hand, the media are telling people to isolate themselves and on the other, we're expected to carry on regardless.

So you think I should carry on going to work and spread it to all my co-workers, including the new father with the 3 week old baby at home?

Is it just a vet thing where we think we're made of steel and should carry on regardless?

My mother in law works in the bank and they've been told to stay away if they've got any symptoms.

I did go to work, of course.

My feeling is that of you would've gone if was human flu then you should go, if not then not.

I think it's a complete media-frenzy over a milder-than-normal flu, correct me anyone if that's not the case.

At what point should you stay home from work? Three of my colleaugues have been in contact with suppsedly confirmed cases and are now off sick as they seem to be unwell. I thought I had a cold at the beginning of the week but now starting to feel more flu-ey but I haven't got a temperature (although that could be the ibuprofen). Not rung my GP but ??? should I be going to work?
