We have two over there. They take a beating and one is over ten years old. They are both LG but not sure they sell them over here.

You do need space to load them and some may find lifting wet and possibly heavy stuff such as blankets out a problem.

Much less wear on the bearings than a front loader.

RE: Washing machines

What kills most practice washers is overloading.
We buy washing machines far too regularly for my liking. It’s on all day every day so it’s no surprise they die after 2years or so. Does anyone use commercial machines? We could probably use a 16kg machine and even the non commercial ones are £1500 so wondered what people’s experiences were.

Thanks

[/quote]whirlpool american top loader, does 12 kg in as little as 20 mins.

Approx £1200

Downsides, don't heat water themselves ( hence the speed) so need hot and cold feed, use lits if water.

Considered semi-commercial so still covered by warranty when in work environment.

One of Bill Bryson's funniest observations was 'Enter a friends home and look through the cupboards to see last years 'fad' be that skiing or scuba diving. It's what keeps the global economy going

I can't resist but an EU directive just about to come in is to try to reduce obsolescence. In this manufactures have to build to last

Sorry.

Well ol' blue Monday was our washday, now we've learnt to boogie the blues away.....

www.youtube.com/watch

But, I also meant to say, Vetbeds are the real killer of washing machines. Commercial machines empty the water straight out downwards by a dump valve. There is a good reason. Domestic ones generally pump it out. The stuff that comes off Vetbeds and dog blankets wrecks the pump unit.

RE: Washing machines

I'm very much in the camp of buy something decent and consider it disposable. ~£250 is generally what we pay for a 8 or 9kg machine. We run 2. Buys 6 of the commercial machines.

The Miele machines are good unless you have a problem and then a repair bill is significant as you can't get spare parts and fix it locally/yourself.

Sometimes ours last 2 years and sometimes 5. I'm sure I'm better off.

RE: Washing machines

We've had the same Miele commercial machine for well over 12 years.
