Thank you Kelly, I'm unsure about an e-book so I'm casing it up. Ideally, yes it will but these publishers prefer to publish hard-copies. I' ll return to this when they've replied to my enquiry, ASAP.

I might be a bit biased but it seemed to go well. The Interviewer, Selina was laughing as I recounted one of my tales from Cows In Trees: the A, B, and C of Emergencies followed by D for Danger. I took her laughter as a good sign! The station is said to be the largest English-speaking station in Europe and is based in Spain. She e-mailed a thank you immediately and commented that they have already had enquiries about where to get the books. I had a few more tales ready to recount but she has a programme to present and not just publicise my books. but it was an enjoyable experience and would happily do more. In2016 following the first edition of Cows In Trees was released in July 2016, I was on BBC Radio Lincs, BBC Radio Lancs because many of the tales happened in East Lancashire, and also I spoke to Lincoln City Radio. I think that either Countryfile and/or the One Show would be good publicity as well if they happened to be interested in how a well-trained, well-educated professional [ tat is me I promise!] has been attacked, chased, fallen over and been puzzled, and embarrassed by his patients

The station is available here: https://www.talkradioeurope.com/

RE: My new book is launched on the 27th/28th July
Well obviously, if you were *truly* dedicated you wouldn't have popped your clogs, now, would you?
Ouch Mark, I should have pointed out to her that therefore I was indeed too dedicated to die so she should be pleased?! As it was she did buy me a gift whilst I was lazing round in my hospital bed: A nice T-shirt: "Keep Calm and Cycle On" So I must not be too critical. Her heart is in the right place but being criticised but not working when I knew it was not safe to do so; not for me, nor probably for the animals and the whole practice! Plus one ex-client has said that she, a dog-breeder found it funnier than the first one. My biggest fear was disappointment after all of the positive feedback onCos In Trees so a case of so far so good I think? The only complaint of the ex-client is that there is too much farm-animal stuff and not enough about dogs and cats!I carefully explained that the tales happened in my career and my career has been what it has been, all in mixed practice so those are the only tales that I can tell. I refuse to make stories up because that would devalue the fact these two books contain true events. She also tried to tell me that I stopped work too so ignoring that she knew I could not stand unaided, was not allowed to drive for a year after a severe head injury That suggestion was quite painful to be honest! I tried to explain that one spends one's entire career trying to build up a good reputation and if I had continued when no longer up to the job, it could have destroyed any reputation that I might have had. But she still wasn't happy that I refused to deal with her dogs any more I think if I had died she might have found a means to complain!?

I worked for David Greenhalgh and Brian Heal on Yorkshire Street from spring 1982 until October 1989. David is now happily-retired and living near Glasgow. I visited Brian in Todmorden before he left. Plus \David and his wife came =t stay with us for the weekend of the book-launch. I still count David and his wife, Cristine as very good personal friends even now thirty years since leaving his practice; Happy Days in Burnley [ Or mostly happy anyway!]

RE: My new book is launched on the 27th/28th July
Many events happened in East Lancashire around Burnley between 1982 and 1989.
Thank you Jule,

Nothing stopping you eally? Only time and finding a Publisher perhaps?

It has been very therapeutic for me to recollect the events. As I wrote them down, I was laughing at the memories of the actual events. I have since created a list of who the clients were and where the events happened. Many events happened in East Lancashire around Burnley between 1982 and 1989. Plus a number here in Horncastle as well. All good stuff! I deliberately avoided using real names in the books resorting to just initials which felt good enough. In the books Barry is really Brian Heal, then in Burnley and Todmorden but now in Spain I think. Brian approves of my tale about his snake-phobia and nearly jumping rom a first-floor window to escape when surprised by the very hefty Boa Constrictor. He claims to have conquered his fear by now though! He certainly did not like being surprised by turning round to see the senior partner standing behind him with a very hefty Boa Constrictor that is for sure. I have seen a photograph of him in the last two years with a big snake round his own neck! I was suitably impressed! Brian has moved to Valencia but I cannot remember what the snake-situation is like in Spain.

RE: My new book is launched on the 27th/28th July

The Publisher's website is here:

Thank you Clare,

The launch has gone very well this weekend with a couple of hundred attending including colleagues with whom I worked up in Lancashire in the eighties. Even after all this time we are all still good friends and it was a lovely reunion when we gathered at the launch. My boss, David Greenhalgh attended with his wife and I think he is a very good example of knowing how to treat new graduates such as I was in at that time. I moved in 1989 to Lincolnshire and he is still supportive after my trauma in 2012! How many practices could boast of such durable friendships and general camaraderie 30 years later I wonder? I have confessed to David that if I had stayed to enter partnership, perhaps we would not still be friends!?

I am very flattered and honoured that they travelled here from Scotland where they now live.

Regarding my books, for those interested it should be available at n-line suppliers and "all good bookstores" from the 1st August.

Thank you again.

RE: My new book is launched on the 27th/28th July

Thank you Jill. My physical recovery has been far better than one might have expected in the early days and is ongoing as I battle to become fitter and stronger. My consultant Gerry O'Reilly had the surgical skills to rescue my skull and brain from the trauma. When I thank him he just credits his staff! If youhappened to read my articles "Back to Normal"for therecent Veterinary Times series Choices, Gerry is in the photograph with Part three of my articles. He has been nothing but encouraging to me for my ongoing cycling as I attempt to live a normal life! Psychologically it has been a lot more challenging due to the PTSD that was diagnosed. That is still an issue now, even 7 years less a few weeks since I head-butted the road at 35mph! To cope with that I can only thank my wife, family and friends, all of whom have gone beyond the call of duty to help me cope. For this aspect I have to thank many professional colleagues including former work-mates and colleagues even ones with whom I had worked in the nineteen eighties and then more recently here in Lincolnshire. Notably, the Sheep Veterinary Society who, when I missed the autumn conference in 2013 thanks to lazing I the hospital bed, sent me a calendar for 2013 with every day signed by a delegate attending that autumn conference; followed by them awarding me life-membership in 2015 as well. A great honour. Finally, I have to mention [of course!] vetsurgeon.org members who have been very positive and supportive in recent times so thanks are due to Arlo for under-pinning this support here!

Very significantly, the VBF, now Vet-Life have been very helpful after my asking for advice on coping with suddenly losing my lifelong career and dream job. Professor Rory O'Connor has even voluntarily travelled all the way to the middle of nowhere here in the Lincs. Wolds to check up on me a couple of times. Rory has now retired rom Vetlife but is still there at the end of the phone if necessary. Therefore, very many thanks are due to a lot of important people including Niall Connell on here who has coped valiantly with his own illness.. But Niall still has time to listen to me. We have a very worthy RCVS president.
