Does anyone have any experience or hints for speeding up Canadian work visas. My son, whom I will shortly exhume, has failed to check his e-mail and so has missed the invite to apply for his visa.

I moved to Canada using the permanent resident program a year and a half ago - is he going via that channel or a regular work visa? If it's the perm residency program I'll have some knowledge

Wishing him all the best on getting over here!

RE: Canadian Work Visa

Thanks, I'll check that

RE: Canadian Work Visa

I have plenty of experience with visa applications but none for Canada however it does state that as long as the employer has completed all the relevant steps and the applicant does not require a visitor visa then it is possible to apply for a visa when entering Canada.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/work-canada/permit/temporary/eligibility.html

UK citizens do not (generally) require a visitor visa but may need electronic travel authorisation which is not the same.

I would urge great caution in trying your luck with the border authorities even if you think you are in the right. Any suspicion on their part may lead to a very quick return home. It is also possible that the airline may not be satisfied that the passenger has the right documentation. They have the right to deny boarding as they get fined if someone lands and gets sent back by the authorities.

Might be worth contacting the employer!!
