I never quite worked out why a Scotsman chose a Viking outfit, but it added a surreal quality to an already strange day

yep, remember Cornwall - stood on a beach in the freezing cold but it was spooky, particularly the way the birds reacted. thankful you said the Scotsman was dressed as a Viking or i might have thought he was one of ours!

I'd be up for that too!

I went down to Cornwall for the total eclipse. Unfortunately it was so cloudy you couldn't see the sun at all, but under the cloud it was clear enough to appreciate the shadow roaring towards you at 12000mph followed by complete night.

Although I knew it was only going to last 2 minutes it sent a shiver down my spine as my inner caveman looked around and thought 'Oh no, the worlds come to an end and the Sun's gone out'

The spiritual moment was somewhat spoilt by a rather drunk Scotsman dressed as a Viking staggering around by my side,

I saw the Space Shuttle once moving very fast across the sky. Good few years ago now, can't remember which one. I would love to see the northern lights, might have to have a trip Norway one winter.
