Rory Stewart is no more than another politician.

I doubt his moral stance is any more good or bad than anyone else's.

He has realised he is not going to get support to be PM so is planning to follow his political career in a different direction.

I think Boris is being quite canny. He is keeping everyone guessing.

Anyone play poker? Anyone who has been through a divorce will probably faced similar tactics from the ex's solicitors.

The fact that we are guessing and all sorts of dirty tricks and scare tactics are being thrown at him and the Brexit brigade suggests he is more on the ball than Ms May ever was!

It was a joke. My mum does a rather funny impersonation of Rory Stewart using her fingers (opposing each other, and as if playing the piano) as his teeth.

Joking aside, I am certainly not dismissive of Rory Stewart. He's not my cup of tea. Too earnest for me. And I don't agree with a lot of what he says.

That's interesting. Is it his tactics, or is it just the situation he is in?

In other words the majority voted to leave. He is in charge of delivering that. The judges/civil service/parliament and doom sayers are trying to frustrate his efforts. Those are not Boris' tactics. Boris didn't pit the electorate against the liberal elite. They found themselves on opposite sides of the fence well before Boris arrived on the scene.

People here seem to be quoting very selectively.

I doubt many of us are saints as seems to be the requirement according to some!

I cannot claim to be whiter than white. I have misbehaved, lied a bit and under the intense scrutiny the PM gets, I suspect some of my past would come back to haunt me.

I wish I could take on the angels halo but I cannot. In reality when I have strayed from the straight and narrow it has probably been me that has paid the biggest price!!

You do not get to be PM by being a fool. I doubt you can get be a politician without being economical with the truth and in personal matters lies are not that unusual.

St Jeremy of Corbyn may be an exception of course!

Nope. That's not what I think.

I don't really know how Boris will end up being judged. Perhaps he will be proven to be a mendacious, self-centred charlatan. All I am arguing is that I am in no position to be that judgemental based on the evidence thus far (most of which has a highly dubious provenance).

I'm also not sure where you get the idea that I think all is forgiven if we get Brexit. I'm a bit of a fence-sitter on the whole thing. I lean towards Brexit, but I am not fanatical about it. The one thing I do believe, with a passion, is that we need a resolution. And I am confident that Boris, whatever you think of him, is leading us to one.

I think one of the problems is that Boris is a writer and one who uses colourful descriptive language to get his point across. I relate to Boris on that score ... I've made a career out of the same thing (except in my case, it was used for PR and marketing). The problem is that people take him too literally. Whaaaaaat? You mean he hasn't thrown himself in front of the bulldozers? You mean 350 million wasn't net, but gross? (I always thought that was so obvious, I couldn't believe everyone got their knickers so twisted).

So then he gets accused of being a liar. I don't understand that. It seems so obvious to me that he is making a point, not a commandment.

Neither Brand nor Norton (maybe I should reverse the order, sounds like I'm stuttering) are the nation's Prime Minister.

As a ticket holder to either performer, you are perfectly welcome to either laugh or walk out, as you like.

In national politics, and I know this is hopelessly naive, I have somewhat higher expectations of behavior. And yes, I know I'm doomed to very frequent disappointment on this one!

Benny Hill played his character because it got the laughs and paid the bills. At the time. A talented slapstick performer, he wasn't the PM, was he? I imagine were he alive today, he'd probably come up with something new.

The ERG and the Ulster Unionists have now agreed that this compromise which involves another border is better than the one agreed by Theresa May which is quite bizarre. Maybe they have come to realise that it is in fact now or never and not a case of cut my nose off to spite my face. There is talk that if the EU agree that the 21 fired Tories will still vote for it, so Boris gets his majority back.

For such a 'bad deal' it seems bizarre that the whole thing hangs on a minute part of the whole thing that in reality may not happen as there are so many safeguards placed to avoid a backstop anyway
