He's a criminal. That's why people don't take seriously any good he might have done. Glass houses and all that.

He's also one of the main reasons Farage left. Under his ruling, he wouldn't have been allowed to join UKIP.

Yup. Her view was that he is completely misrepresented in the media, that he is not a racist, and that what he has done is to help expose the child grooming rings around the country. Problem, she says, is that the child grooming rings are largely run by Asians, and Tommy Robinson has been vilified for saying so.

Until last night, the name Tommy Robinson seemed vaguely familiar, but that was as far as it went. Then I googled him, and what I read made him sound pretty obnoxious. But whether he has been the victim of a hatchet job or not, I have no idea.

I'm delighted to hear it. I've always thought she is charming and a great presenter, but there's been a long-running rant about her in the Culture section of the Sunday Times. Rude and wrong.

Well, what an experience that was. First impression was of Fiona Bruce when she came to give a pre-show talk to the audience whilst everyone was having a cup of tea. Wow. Now that's what I call a national treasure. Exuded a very natural charm from every pore. I was utterly smitten. Everyone was.

Then a dry run in the auditorium. Then they called out the people who'd be asking the questions, and I found myself sitting there thinking 'please god don't let it be me', and wishing I'd done the same as one member of the audience who'd written 'I don't want to ask a question' on her question card.

Worst of all, we get half way through the debate and my old friend, who I am sitting next to, decides to have a rant. I didn't really know what she was on about, but I am sitting there, knowing the camera will be on me too, thinking 'For christ's sake, beam me up, Scotty, NOW'. That, and perhaps if I don't move a single muscle, not even a twitch, nobody will see me.

Wish I'd brought that umbrella after all.

Exactly. They are taking such a pummeling at the moment and noone seems to be speaking in their defence. Pupils are excluded because they are damaged and disruptive to other pupils, which is unfair to those other pupils. For the populists to turn this around and claim that indiscriminate exclusion is turning 'innocent' pupils into sociopaths is verging on the criminal.

Sitting here tweaking questions. It's more difficult than I had realised, because the confirmation email says questions must be no more than twenty words.

We have two questions.

Definitely one is going to be about children with learning difficulties, if for no other reason than to get some airtime for the subject.

Clare Tapsfield-Wright - I like yours and think it is an improvement on my first version, but twenty words doesn't allow me to conflate the issues of Brexit and state care. Even as a single subject, I can only get it down to 34 words:

As we learn that the state is treating children with learning difficulties worse than animals, is the problem that too many children are being institutionalised, or that the institutions are not fit for purpose?

Then I am a bit torn on a few possibilities:

Would the panel prefer a chocolate, strawberry or vanilla milkshake, and if none, how else would they suggest voters express their frustration?

Does the panel believe that the money and parliamentary time being squandered over Brexit is causing more harm than Brexit itself?

Is it right or fair that hard-pressed teachers should be made scapegoats for inept parenting and the problems of society at large?

This is not the real British Steel. That has not existed for years and was a massive organisation. This 'British Steel' is one plant that was bought for a Pound as that is what it was worth. It is now worth 25p.

I have great sympathy for those working there and it is a real concern for those others supported by the plant but this is not the same business just a tiny fraction of it.

Can you ask if any of the politicians and the media, who are enjoying with glee the excitement of the Brexit fiasco, if they have any pangs of conscience for the money and the parliamentary time that has been squandered while children with autism are still treated worse than any animal in residential “care” .
