Post-implementation of the Retail Distribution Review (about 2012?) charges should be transparent and such commission on most products gone.

PPS have always been very good for me. After having tried several financial advisors, I came across the charismatic Dave Hodgetts (sorely missed) who transformed my practice and was central in saving both my business and my sanity.

Paul Jackson has since been extremely helpful. My investments through him have done very well. Yes, there are costs. Wherever you go the costs will be there. If you think yours are too high, have a word with him. He is extremely approachable and doesn’t make your head go round.

i am quite certain that IFAs with special veterinary business knowledge are vital.

You can do it all yourself by going on Hargreaves and Landsdowne and picking your own investment fund portfolios.

Returns do vary a lot , the better ones , Lindsdell , Fundsmith Equity ,Jupiter European, are still returning around 15% annually but they are up and down like a tarts knickers with the Brexit uncertainty as they are all tied to the stock market. Have a play.

I have not found a single one to be of much value in recent years.

They used to get their money by commission but now charge for services. Sadly not seen any change to payments or benefits which suggests I am getting far less value than I was before.

The last time I was given fee information it was a bonkers figure and under no circumstances would I see a return on that!

They have since closed the office and changed names a few times.
