I've done this, so the other stays on track

Have you had issues with breeders accusing you of puppy

RE: Radiographing C Section

Just a story really.

The local CID came round about 5 years ago. As a breeder who was going through an acrimonious divorce made allegations to the police that the practice(me) had stolen a "quantity" of pups when we delivered only one following a csection several months previously. I thought it was some sort of misunderstanding and didnt take it very seriously and suggested they come back after I had discussed the case records with my associate. Anyway I did phone the RCVS for general advice who said I didnt need to play along with it and just say Client confidentiality....

Anyway sure enough they returned about 3 weeks later wanting to know all the details of all the breeding bitches(he had several) and to my regret after some pleasantries I eventually used the phrase I couldnt help as client confidentiality "trumped" their enquiries or words to that effect. They said I could cooperate or I could go to the station. At this I phoned the college again and one of the CID spoke to the RCVS lawyers and then gave me the phone back, the RCVS suggested I helped this time!

I didnt get in touch with the VDS as I was convinced it couldnt lead to anything. We arranged an informal discussion with the two policeman at the surgery and I spent a couple of hours discussing the situation and the 3-4 csections I had performed. It turned out the breeder had made numerous other allegations about other people which could be proven to be false which weakenned his case and the police left saying it was highly unlikely that they would speak to me again and they didnt.

These dogs were worth a massive amount of money and the case again shows that it is very difficult to prove a negative. I still dont CCTV the csections I do and nothing like that has ever happenned again. I had a bit of a go at the police for believing this man but they just said all allegations had to be investigated.

The CS is either needed or it isn't, and I can't see how radiography would help?

Numbers - just count them as come out -surely?

I have had Breeders accuse a practice of stealing puppies because the final number doesn't match the number they have been given by a lay person ultrasound scan. I Ignore them, the onus would be on them to prove it.
