For some reason I had about 10 arrive even though I haven't ordered them. I have only glanced at them so far and they look a mess.

Don't they contravene the section of the principles of certification where it states that certificates should be a) written in simple terms which are easy to understand and b) clear and concise?!

As for the poll, so far pretty much b) but telling owners currently that hopefully in a month when the blood test would be due we might know more (but that may be overly optimistic given the way things are going).

We ahd someone today moving abck to Poland on June 22nd. We've given the rabies vacc but holding off on issuing paperwork until we know which paperwork we need.

I rang AHPA Carlisle today to clarify a few points about the AHCs.

They have not got a clue!

Q) how much will the forms cost me to order?

A).....er...I think there is no charge.....

Q) how long will they take to arrive once ordered?

A) ......er.....5,6,7,10 days......

Q) it states in the online “ help” section that a Rabies blood test should be attached to the form ” if applicable” ... will it be applicable in all cases?

A) ..... er...maybe.....

But the lady I spoke to at the Carlise office did have a very lovely Carlisly accent: as a Southerner I understood almost everything she said.

I‘ve decided not to order any AHC forms yet as they‘ll probably be obsolete soon when the UK becomes the 51st State of America.

For one or two owners we have taken the 30 day blood sample, but are holding onto them for a few more days.....once we get to 12th April...(or is that May/june/2020) we will decide if we send them or just issue the passport!

What fun.

If there is why not follow it?

If you can't, or the regs don't , then don't do any?

French passport is OK for travel within Europe. If you come to the UK with an EU issued passport you can't get back into Europe without a "current" Rabies titre blood test. If the blood test was carried out in the EU apprently no 3 month wait: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/pet-travel-to-europe-after-brexit#uk-nationals-living-in-the-eu Presumably if an EU issued passport then also no need for any export health certificate to leave the UK.

I have also decided that if we have a no deal scenario with blood tests etc I will be giving up my OV status! Too much hassle, minimal remuneration

So ..found out today it's another £58.80 to have a second attempt at the exam. To be honest I found the questions quite tricky...they didn't seem to be stuff that was in the on line training...

I would love not to have to be an OV but I think I will need to continue as we do a lot of passports and exports :(

An eu passport ie issued in France remains same criteria - chip rabies shot & good to go within eu in 21 days. As I understand it UK not planning on changing its recognition of eu passports. But uk issued passports will no longer be valid eu passports so need bloods & then wait 3 months so life a lot easier with a passport issued in France.

Maybe this is a daft questions, but does it make any difference to the movement rules whether the passport is French or British? Surely the rules regarding vax/bloods for travel between UK and France will be the same no matter where the passport was issued originally.

The new forms are horrible. The pet is described as ’consigned goods’ with tiny space allocated to fit id chip number in. makes the yellow export forms for the rest of the world look lovely & straightforward. We have some clients with a property in France who are going out on their UK passport before Brexit & the going to get an EU passport issued by their French vet.

[/quote] I'm pretty much the same - I don't do many Pet Passports these days and frankly can't be arsed with the hassle and expense of renewing my grandfather rights (or the embarrassment of failing the exam...).

I’ve been doing B, but advising the most recent ones to hang on before the bloods as we may have some information on what is happening by the time the bloods are due. One or two clients have commented on how astonished they are that Brexit is affecting animal passports. I haven't asked which way they voted...

You can order up to 25 EHCs from APHA in dual language. I received my order early this week- 10 French, 5 Spanish, 5 Dutch and 5 English. Hopefully won't have to use use them soon. I haven't read all the details of completion yet!

I’m doing b as well.

I thought about ordering in some AHC forms .... but they need to be in the language of the country they are travelling to! .... so can’t get them in advance ... unless you know you have a regular trail of clients wanting to go France etc.
