I'd like to remind everyone that it's bad etiquette to commandeer a thread like

RE: The forum tangent button, how and why you should all use it.

We've just done another deployment, which

a) should now mean that when you react to a forum post (or 'thank' for sharing in the photo galleries), the person is notified at the top right of every page of the website. A small but very important addition!

b) removes jobs from list of people when you tag them in the forum (ie when you type the 'at' symbol in the forum, you no longer get a list of names and job vacancies, just names).

Fingers crossed that works.

As regards tangent, it turns out there is an error that affects some browsers but not others. Not yet sure which, but we re working on that.

RE: The forum tangent button, how and why you should all use it.

Ah, thank you Arlo- I thought I was having another senile moment!

RE: The forum tangent button, how and why you should all use it.
Oops, so me being blind then!!
Yes Francisco Gomez, you're right. But no, it can't be done retrospectively, because I can't easily move posts from one thread to another. I think we just need to be more mindful of the courtesy of keeping threads on topic, and tangenting if you want to go off on one ...

Just a thought, but it would maybe be useful if when someone does start a tangent there is a note on the original thread that a tangent has been started. At the moment we seem to have a new thread that says "tangent of..." but I haven't noticed (and apologies if I'm wrong!) any notification on the original thread that "TANGENT THREAD STARTED" for those that do want to answer the tangent.

Of course, it could be me being blind
Thats exactly what the system is supposed to do already (it is supposed to appear at the foot of the post where the tangent was started). It was working last time I looked.
