Interesting just last night I had a "potencial" case, of a young spring spaniel who had been drinking in a lake before owner noticed a sign warning of blue algae risk. When they called us it was 7h after the drinking, the dog was lethargic, on praying position, and on clinical examination a mild abdominal pain. We run full blood and all was normal. She went home with one injection of buprenorphine and didn't hear of her since.

It could have been something different. How quick should I expect symptoms of blue algae intoxication, would you say?

has a classic hepatic damage histopath pattern if you brave enough to biopsy in a dog that ill.

How would you diagnose it - faecal analysis?

Get it every summer around us. Usually most get a severe GE. Supportive care is all you can do

very nasty g/ent , dehydration ending in severe liver failure that is pretty minimally responsive to any medications apart from general supportive therapy (fluids etc)
