I have a question regarding confidentiality - maybe I need to call VDS or RCVS or both but I was hoping someone here would know!
We have a dog registered with us to Mr and Mrs X, now separated. Mrs X currently has the dog but Mr X wishes

RE: Client separation and confidentiality

Can't you just ask them to talk to each other?

Only what they've told me! You know how clients like to share sometimes... :)

I would never give out addresses or personal information. Do I assume that Mrs X is the owner now as she currently has the dog? Maybe the courts will decide and solve it all!

RE: Client separation and confidentiality

Have you asked Mrs X if she has an issue with him knowing?
Yes, it is. Sorry, badly worded in the original post.

It doesn't seem like the most amicable of separations so I'm trying to prepare for any conflict regarding treatment decisions. Hopefully they'll sort it out and one or other will take full ownership!

RE: Client separation and confidentiality

The answer probably revolves around the words 'has been' in the second sentence. If it is still registered in joint names I can't see how there is an issue but if it is now registered only in Mrs X's name then you could be in a spot of bother. Sensible to pass it by RCVS though, not sure VDS would give you the answer.
