I think I am definitely more challenge- based. I like to try to work out how to get to a diagnosis via the best route and within the clients budget- eg what to do first/ next/ if that doesn't work based on likeliehood/ signalment/ clinical signs. I'm definitely don't do things in a linear fashion

RE: Are you an academic vet, or a challenge-focused one?

No surprise that training vets in a linear fashion from problem to diagnosis, treatment and prognosis ill-equips them for the actual challenges of practice life. Great that the RVC have looked into this and are increasing their non-clinical content to better match expectation and reality. It'll be interesting to see how this affects new graduate morale, stress levels, and ultimately retention in the profession.
