We did think about that scenario (specifically the issue of not wanting home addresses visible when members do not have a different work address).

You did absolutely the right thing typing Locum as company name (you could also have put 'self-employed').

Location-wise, we prompt you to enter a town or postcode when you use the manual option. I would recommend a locum who does NOT want a private address to be visible should instead just enter the local town in that box. That will be close enough for the VetSurgeon Connect features to work (ie showing you local referral practitioners on your personalised map).

In any event, your location is NOT shared unless you tick the box marked 'share my location' on that form, or on the VetSurgeon Connect page.

So, Martin McDowell - recommend that

a) If you want to use VetSurgeon Connect, now go to your account settings, change your location to something vaguer like local town. Then go to the connect page and share your location.

b) If you do NOT want to use VetSurgeon Connect (and did not tick 'share my location'), you don't need to do anything as your location / postcode is not shared.

Update: I think we’ve finally cracked it; fixed Rob Loxley’s bug, so I’ve switched the update thing back on. Fingers crossed! One small thing is that everyone will be asked to update details even if you’ve already done it. If you have, just hit save again.

Rob Loxley Developers just tried updating your account in Microsoft Edge and it worked fine, so we are struggling to think why it didn't work for you.

Did you enter address manually or did you just enter the name of the practice?

If the former, did it find the practice and complete the box.

If the latter, did you complete both fields (town or postcode, plus name of employer or some other word like: locum/unemployed).

Rob Loxley OMG I don't blinking believe it. This is SO hair-tearingly frustrating.

You should have arrived to find an empty practice/employer box, and an empty box re 'Connect'.

You type in the name of the practice, and it should find and autocomplete.

If not, you click the text beneath to open a new box to enter name of practice and location manually (or locum, and a town, if working from home and wanting to be imprecise).

You tick, or don't tick the connect box, that is not a requirement (but interested to know why you didn't!)

Didn't allow me to save the results - I didn't tick the vetsurgeon connect box - is this a requirement?

Thank you both so much ... we're making some progress at least :) Your practice/address details updated properly.

There are a couple more tweaks and I am not where they are in the pipeline (they might in fact be installed already), so could anyone else hold fire until the developers have given me the go ahead tomorrow.

Hmmm, not sure. It allowed me to input details but when I pressed ‘save’ nothing seemed to happen afterwards, pressed ‘save‘ again and it doesn’t take me off that page in anyway. I didn’t put anything for the first box as I’m a locum so did the ‘enter manually’ bit.

Damn, damn and triple damn. We're not quite sure what is going on - worked fine this morning, apparently, on iphone. But I impersonated your account and something wasn't right, because I got a couple of errors. Anyway, developers looking into it again - we're not sure if this is a safari related problem, or something to do with your address (it found your practice right away when I looked, no need to enter manually).

When I hover over the save button I get a little pop up message in the corner of the screen that says javascript:void 0

It's not working for me, I'm afraid! Can't find my workplace on the database, so entered the details manually, clicked save and......absolutely nothing happened.

So the first bit I mentioned may be because the ‘scrolling’ bit at the top about sharing information virtually ends where the second part of the form starts when the keyboard comes up to type.so getting on to the second part of the form is difficult.

Yes sorry! I thought it may just be that wasn’t meant to work on an iPhone so you may not want details!

if I click on the location bit (that currently says uk) it then won’t allow me to scroll on the screen back down to the box properly.

If I click on the ‘enter manually’ bit then my phone goes berserk, changes to a ’wider’ setting, not as wide as landscape, but the form becomes bigger widthways and won’t allow me to scroll across it to do anything useful.

Not sure if that makes sense so I’ll go into it again and see if I can upload a screenshot.
