+1 for actual numbers, percentages on their own are meaningless.

other categories could be "helpful" and "unhelpful". instead or in addition to "agree" and "disagree"

Sold it years ago, but hey, perhaps this is the excuse i need to buy another.

Meantime, here's a rough idea of what it looks like using raw numbers. Post scores at the top of the post, running totals on the lhs. Sorry Clive Ansell, nothing to be read into it being your post used to illustrate!

I've titles the totals 'Total Score'. But perhaps 'Reputation' would be better? Or something else?

I still think a % agree/disagree might work better; make it easier to compare one person to the next. But we can always see how it goes and change it later if needs be.

Except I'm not going to start triggering email alerts every time someone thanks you, or you'll end up with an irritatingly full mailbox. I have something else in mind. Something bigger. Something which involves an extra, more tangible thanks from me to those who contribute the most.

I was thinking that the percentage is just the percentage of agrees vs disagrees, independent of 'thanks'.

Hope I am being clear that we are talking here of the running totals each member achieves across ALL posts, not the reactions to any one post, which are displayed above the post, for example:

Agree (3) | Disagree (12) | Thank you (5)

What I am talking about here are the numbers displayed under the name in the left hand margin of posts. A more long term indicator of the member's performance.

So it's

678 Reactions (all time, and this is agrees or disagrees only).
35% agreed
5 Thanks

So the 'agreed' figure just gives you an idea of how widely someone's opinions in general, over a long period, are agreed with.

If you used percentages what do you count a thank you as? Eg a helpful post might get

Thanks 20

Disagree 0

would that say 33% agree when in fact everyone was positive to the post in one way or another?
